With the approach of the winter season and the opening of ski lifts, the Peak Sport Adventure team in Canazei would like to share some fundamental rules for your safety and the safety of others on the slopes.
Skiing is an exciting and rewarding activity, but it is crucial to adhere to some common-sense rules to prevent accidents and ensure an enjoyable day on the slopes for all. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind during your next winter adventure:
Respect Others: When you're on the slope, remember you're not alone. Respect other skiers and snowboarders, avoiding putting them in danger or causing damage.
Adjust Your Speed and Behavior: Ski at a speed and in a style appropriate for your skill level, weather and visibility conditions, and the traffic on the slope.
Watch for Uphill Skiers: Skiers uphill have the right of way regarding direction. Follow a trajectory that minimizes the risk of collisions.
Overtake Responsibly: If you decide to overtake another skier or snowboarder, do so uphill or downhill, both to the right and left, but only when there is sufficient space and visibility. Make sure not to impede the person you're passing.
Yield at Crossroads: Always yield to the right at intersections and follow any posted signs. When entering a slope or resuming after a break, ensure you do so safely without endangering yourself or others.
Safe Stopping: If you need to take a break, stop at the edge of the slope and not at mandatory passage areas or places with poor visibility.
Walking Up and Down: If you have to walk uphill or downhill on the slope for any reason, do so only along the edges, avoiding disrupting the flow of skiers.
Respect Slope Signage: It's always important to respect the signage on the slope. In particular, minors under 18 years old should always wear a helmet.
Provide Assistance: In case of an accident, it's crucial to provide assistance. If you're involved in an accident, provide your personal information and encourage witnesses to do the same.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and by following these simple rules, we can ensure a safer and more enjoyable winter season for everyone. Enjoy the mountains, fresh snow, and spectacular ski slopes of the Dolomites safely and responsibly.
Have a great winter season!
